Changing room and wet area tiling
Tanked, slip-resistant tiling for showers and changing rooms.
Overview
Changing rooms and showers in sports facilities, training grounds, schools, leisure centres and gyms are some of the hardest-working tiled areas there are. We tank, tile and grout them to stand up to water, chemicals and constant use.

What we do
- Tanking and waterproofing membranes
- Floors laid to falls towards drains and channels
- Barefoot slip-resistant floor tiles
- Epoxy grouting for hygiene and durability
- Showers, ice baths and hydrotherapy areas
What to know
Barefoot slip ratings
Barefoot areas use the A, B and C classification. Class B is generally suited to showers and changing room floors, and class C to areas such as pool surrounds, ramps and steps into water.
Waterproofing
Tiles and grout are not waterproof on their own. A tanking system behind the tiles stops water reaching the building.
Falls to drains
Showers and wet floors should fall towards drains so that water doesn't pond.
How we work on site
In changing rooms and wet areas we waterproof showers before tiling, lay floors to falls, choose tiles with the right barefoot slip rating and use grouts that cope with water and cleaning chemicals.
- We keep dust down with vacuums and dust extractors and clean up as we go.
- We protect finished work and surrounding areas, and leave the site clean and tidy every day.
- We work evenings, nights and weekends when a programme or opening hours call for it.
- Both of us are enhanced DBS checked, hold CSCS cards and are trained in COSHH, manual handling, abrasive wheels and asbestos and silica awareness.

Common questions
Why use epoxy grout in changing rooms?
It resists water, staining and cleaning chemicals far better than cement grout, so it stays cleaner and lasts longer.
Can you work during the off-season?
Yes. We plan sports and school work around fixtures, holidays and closure periods.
Which slip rating do changing rooms need?
Barefoot areas use the A, B and C classes. Changing rooms usually need at least class A, and showers class B or higher.
Can you regrout an existing changing room?
Yes. If the tiles are sound, regrouting with epoxy can make a tired changing room look and stay much cleaner.
