Questions we're often asked.
Straight answers from tilers who've been doing this for decades.
What size of projects do you take on?
We take on everything from large commercial contracts and public buildings to domestic kitchens, bathrooms, wet rooms and whole-house floors.
Do you work nationwide?
Yes. We're based in Warrington, Cheshire, and regularly work across the UK. On bigger jobs we stay near site, often for one to two weeks at a time and longer when the project needs it.
Can you work on live sites or out of hours?
Yes. We regularly work in schools, hospitals, stations and other buildings that stay open, and we work evenings and weekends when a programme or trading hours call for it.
Which tiles are best for busy commercial floors?
Porcelain is usually the first choice. It's dense, hard-wearing and absorbs very little water, so it stands up to heavy footfall and regular cleaning. For areas that get wet or greasy, choose a tile with a suitable slip rating for how the floor is used.
What do slip ratings like R10 or R11 mean?
The R rating (R9 to R13) is a ramp test for shoe-wearing areas: the higher the number, the more slip-resistant the tile. Barefoot areas such as showers and pool surrounds use a separate A, B and C rating. Many specifiers also use the pendulum test (PTV), which measures slip resistance on site. We can help you pick tiles suited to each area.
Epoxy or cement grout?
Epoxy grout resists staining, chemicals and water far better, so it suits commercial kitchens, changing rooms, food areas and busy pools. It costs more and takes longer to install. Cementitious grout is fine for many general areas when it's well maintained.
Why does floor preparation matter so much?
Most tile failures start below the tile. The base needs to be flat, sound, clean and dry. That's why we offer self-levelling and priming as part of the job, especially for large-format tiles, which show any unevenness as lipping.
Can you supply the tiles?
Yes. We supply and fit tiles, adhesives, grouts, levelling compounds, primers, membranes and tanking through specialist UK suppliers, or we can fit tiles you or the main contractor supply. Most tiles arrive quickly, but some special orders can take up to 6 to 7 weeks, so it's worth checking lead times early.
Should we keep spare tiles?
Yes. Suppliers change ranges and sizes from time to time, so a box of spares makes future repairs far easier and helps get a close match.
Are you qualified and insured?
Yes. We're NVQ qualified, hold CSCS cards and enhanced DBS checks, and carry public liability insurance.
