Commercial floor tiling contractors

Hard-wearing floor tiling for busy commercial and public buildings.

Overview

Commercial floors take far more punishment than domestic ones: heavy footfall, trolleys, cleaning machines and spills. We tile floors in supermarkets, airports, train stations, schools, hospitals, hotels and commercial units across the UK, with the preparation and detailing that keeps them sound for years.

What we do

  • Porcelain, ceramic, quarry and natural stone floor tiles
  • Large-format porcelain and slab tiles
  • Slip-resistant tiles chosen for each area
  • Floor preparation: self-levelling and priming
  • Epoxy or cementitious grouting to suit the use
  • Out-of-hours and phased working on live sites

What to know

Choose the right tile

Porcelain is usually the first choice for commercial floors. It is dense, absorbs very little water and stands up to heavy wear and regular cleaning.

Get the slip rating right

Entrances, wet areas and kitchens need more slip resistance than dry corridors. We'll help you match the tile to how the floor will actually be used.

Prepare the base properly

Most floor failures start below the tile. The base must be flat, sound, clean and dry before a single tile goes down.

How we work on site

On commercial floors we check the base first, set out the floor so cuts land in sensible places, and use enough adhesive for full support under every tile.

  • We keep dust down with vacuums and dust extractors and clean up as we go.
  • We protect finished work and surrounding areas, and leave the site clean and tidy every day.
  • We work evenings, nights and weekends when a programme or opening hours call for it.
  • Both of us are enhanced DBS checked, hold CSCS cards and are trained in COSHH, manual handling, abrasive wheels and asbestos and silica awareness.

Common questions

Can you tile while a store or building stays open?

Yes. We regularly work in phases, overnight or at weekends so that trading or operations carry on around us.

Do you supply the tiles?

Yes. We can supply tiles, adhesives, grouts, levelling compounds, primers, membranes and tanking through specialist UK suppliers, or fit tiles supplied by you or the main contractor.

How long before a new floor can be walked on?

It depends on the adhesive and grout. Rapid-setting products can allow light foot traffic within hours; standard products usually need longer. We'll tell you before we start so you can plan.

Can you repair just part of a commercial floor?

Yes. Damaged tiles can be cut out and replaced, and failed joints regrouted, without redoing the whole floor.
