Safe, clean and tidy, every job
We look after the people who use your building, the people we work alongside, and the finish we leave behind.
Our approach
Most of our work happens in buildings that are still in use: schools, hospitals, shops, stations and offices. That means safety isn't just about us. It's about the staff, customers, pupils and patients who are around while we work.
We keep work areas contained, dust down and routes clear, and we leave every site clean and tidy at the end of each day. We're proud to say we've never had a complaint from a client.
Training and checks
- CSCS cards
- Enhanced DBS checks
- COSHH training
- Manual handling
- Abrasive wheels
- Asbestos awareness
- Silica dust awareness
Dan and Jay both hold every one of these. Copies of certificates are available on request.
Dust control
Cutting tiles, removing old tiles and grinding produces fine dust, including silica dust from many tiles, stone and adhesives. Breathing it in over time can damage the lungs, so we keep it to a minimum.
- Vacuums and dust extractors on cutting and preparation work
- Wet cutting where it suits the job
- Work areas screened off where needed
- Clean as we go, not just at the end
- Suitable masks and protective equipment
The Health and Safety Executive has more on construction dust, including silica.
Protecting the public
Contained work areas
Barriers, screens and signage keep the public out of the work area.
Clear routes
We plan the work in phases so entrances, corridors and fire routes stay open.
Wet floors
Freshly grouted or cleaned floors are signed and protected until they are safe to use.
Tools and materials
Nothing is left lying around. Tools and materials are kept in our area and stored safely.
Out-of-hours and night work
Some buildings can't close. We work night shifts, evenings and weekends so shops can keep trading, stations and airports keep moving, and schools and offices carry on as normal. Each area is handed back clean and safe.
Patch repairs and emergencies
A cracked, loose or missing tile is more than a cosmetic problem. It can be a trip hazard or let water into the building. We take on small and urgent repairs, make the area safe and replace damaged tiles as closely matched as possible.
Hygiene-sensitive buildings
In hospitals, clinics, kitchens, food production and animal care, joints and surfaces need to be easy to clean. We recommend epoxy or antibacterial grouts where they suit, and work in a way that keeps dust and debris away from clean areas.
Paperwork
On request we can provide:
- Risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
- COSHH information for the products we use
- Copies of training certificates and CSCS cards
- Proof of public liability insurance
Common questions
Can you send RAMS before we start?
Yes. We can provide risk assessments and method statements for your job, COSHH information for the products we use, copies of our training certificates and proof of insurance.
How do you control dust?
We use vacuums and dust extractors when cutting and preparing, wet-cut where it suits the job, screen off work areas and clean up as we go.
Can you work nights and weekends?
Yes. Night shifts and out-of-hours work are normal for us in shops, transport hubs, schools and other buildings that need to stay open.
Do you take on emergency repairs?
Yes. A broken or lifting tile can be a trip hazard. We'll make the area safe and fit urgent repairs in as quickly as we can.
Are you DBS checked?
Yes. Dan and Jay both hold enhanced DBS checks and CSCS cards.
Have a tiling project coming up?
Send us the details and we'll get a price back to you.
