Natural stone tiling

Marble, limestone, slate and granite for floors and walls.

Overview

Natural stone brings character to hotels, receptions, showrooms and larger homes, but each stone has its own needs. We fit marble, limestone, slate and granite with the right adhesives, sealing and care.

What we do

  • Marble, limestone, travertine, slate and granite
  • Floors, walls and feature areas
  • Suitable adhesives for light and moisture-sensitive stone
  • Sealing before and after grouting where needed
  • Receptions, hotels, showrooms and larger homes

What to know

Light-coloured stone

Pale marbles and limestones can be stained by grey adhesive, so they are usually fixed with white adhesive.

Moisture-sensitive stone

Some stones, such as certain green marbles, can warp or curl with water-based adhesives, so they need rapid-setting or reaction resin adhesives.

Sealing

Most natural stone is porous and needs sealing to protect against staining.

How we work on site

With natural stone we check each batch, blend tiles for an even look, use adhesives suitable for stone and seal the stone to protect it.

  • We keep dust down with vacuums and dust extractors and clean up as we go.
  • We protect finished work and surrounding areas, and leave the site clean and tidy every day.
  • We work evenings, nights and weekends when a programme or opening hours call for it.
  • Both of us are enhanced DBS checked, hold CSCS cards and are trained in COSHH, manual handling, abrasive wheels and asbestos and silica awareness.

Common questions

Is natural stone good for commercial floors?

Harder stones such as granite are very durable. Softer stones such as some limestones and marbles can wear or etch in busy areas, so the choice matters.

Does stone need ongoing maintenance?

Yes. It needs the right cleaning products and periodic resealing.

Does natural stone need sealing?

Most natural stone does, to help stop staining. How often it needs resealing depends on the stone and how it's used.

Is natural stone suitable for commercial floors?

Harder stones like granite and some slates suit heavy use well. Softer stones such as some marbles and limestones are better in lower-traffic areas.
